Imagine what you can do....

Today we're sharing more inspiration for projects featuring the Imagine This collection by the designing duo of Linda Carlson and Diana Henage.

Linda: The child’s dress was made using Simplicity’s New Look pattern #6478 View B with my alteration of adding 4 tiles from SKU#1200591, the multi-color tiles. I cut them out individually making sure the black outline all around the tiles showed without any of the yellow sashing. I used the fusible Misty Fuse centered over the already sewn bodice and dress seam lines, then machine appliquéd with a small zigzag stitch for added interest. When I’m done photographing the dress, it will go to my youngest niece, Diana’s granddaughter.

Linda: The purse is actually a carrying case for the Pop-up Travel Hat pattern I bought from Annie’s Catalogue, which if I’d had time before the Spring Market in Pittsburgh, I would have sewn it, too. However, I liked how fashionable and suitable the bag was for ‘tween and teens as well as beach lovers. I used the pre-quilted fabrics in both the multi-color and red, black, white and gray prints to showcase either a more juvenile look or stylish young ingenue look on the outside of the purse. Both pre-quilted fabrics feature the whimsical collage animal/artsy print with the swirled multi-color or black/gray dot prints on the inside and outside of the purse eliminating the need to create a separate lining.

Linda: Since our School House was called “Modern Ideas For Modern Fabrics!”, I wanted to show innovative quilt designs and projects utilizing modern shapes. I’d already made the Mod Rules! quilt featuring the red, black, gray and white tile fabric cut into octagons, so when I found a pattern for hexagon double sided fusible place mats, I added the no-sew project to the samples for the School House presentation. Again, I used the pre-fused fabrics because of the time crunch, but did sew on the rick-rack to cover the raw edges of the pre-quilted fabric.

Linda: Here's Diana & I showing off our “Donut Vests” by Linda McGeehee at Spring Market. The vest almost sews itself when you choose double-sided pre-quilted fabrics: fold the fabric, cut out with pattern template, bind, and you’re done! The pre-quilted bags were perfect additions to the vests, too!
